Reason for God (Part 2)

07.01.08 | Permalink | Comment?

This is our second excursion from the book of Acts, to consider the tough questions on evangelism and how we should direct answers to the best (or worst) questions that a Christian can face from the world.

What do you think are the hardest questions that needs to be answered (and needs a good biblical answer)?

Join us once again at Room 1-8, 1.15pm for the answers and discussion.

See you there!

Reason for God?

06.25.08 | Permalink | Comment?

We are taking a break from our studies in Acts for only this week.

Some interesting activities are in store. Main question is: How do you explain the reason for God? And the bigger question; the reason for the God of the Bible?

Asking hard questions to open inner eyes that are blind :)

See you then.

With Fear and Trembling (Study on Acts 5)

06.17.08 | Permalink | Comment?
The Christian life is not only characterised with mere mindless joy and celebration. It is chiefly marked with a holy fear and trembling towards God and His Word. These are the main foundations that form the godly Christian life which many in the world find intriguing and astonishing.

How can there be real joy in the midst of fear? What seems to be conflicting emotions and conditions, are actually part and parcel of the daily Christian life. In this chapter that we will be considering this Friday, we will be looking at how the early church dealt with these themes. What role does fear and trembling play in the church of Christ?

More importantly, we will find out, how does this affect our day and generation?

Join us once again, in Room 1-8 at 1.15pm, on campus. :)

No Other Name (Acts 4)

06.10.08 | Permalink | Comment?
“Act 4:12-13
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  (13)  Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”

In our generation of relativity, few people would want to proclaim that the truth that they hold is the only right truth. It is such a pity, as such lack of boldness is often seen in men and women who have not taken any initiative to search out the truth. We are quick to decry a particular truth (particularly dealing with God) because of the simple reason that: most of the people are lazy, and do not really want to find out for themselves.

It is easy to ignore and to wave this matter away. But, God does not let His standards and His rule be scoffed. He confounds them.

Here we begin to see the type of problems the early Christians faced in their activity of spreading the gospel to the nations around them. More importantly, we note the main approach which they used to further the Kingdom of God.

Let us thus hear what God has to say to us (in our generation, Now!) through His Words. It is amazing to have the same voice speaking to us, as it was for the prophets and apostles who wrote them down, in their time.

Join us every Friday, at 1.15pm in Room 1-8. Open to anyone. :)

Being a Church! (Studies on Acts 3)

06.05.08 | Permalink | Comment?
You need to be in a church. There is just no substitute for being a part of the visible (which you can see) church, if you profess to be a Christian. And mere attendance is not acceptable for those who want to walk the way of their Lord Jesus Christ.

Find out whether you have been fulfilling the command of God in this area of your life, and discover what benefits there are to being a member of a local church.

We meet every Friday, at 1.15pm in Room 1-8 for a short prayer and bible study session. See you there!

Rushing Wind! (Acts 2)

05.27.08 | Permalink | Comment?
The Holy Spirit is one of the most vital elements in the conversion of the sinner, and it becomes our center of attention as we begin our journey in the ‘Acts of the Apostles’. What happened when the Spirit was poured out onto the early disciples of Jesus? What was the purpose of its coming?

These are some of the questions which we will find answered in God’s Word this Friday.

Acts 2:17, 21
‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

This is the same Spirit which is promised by Jesus that makes a spiritually dead person, alive in the second birth! Such is the richness of the promises of God. This promise is also for you. But first, we need to learn and listen to what says about His promises before we can be partakers of it.

Join us, at 1.15pm in Room 1-8, TPM Building, for another stimulating and exciting journey into the lives of the early Christians.

See you there! Open for everyone!

The Journey Into The Christian Origin (Study on the book of Acts)

05.13.08 | Permalink | Comment?
Knowing history is not a popular thing nowadays. Few people will not roll their eyes at the mention of history; however, it is true that it has many things to teach us concerning who we are now. What was, is what is.

It is no different with the Christian faith. The faith has been decried as something that is novel, which took place in the 16th century, during the time of reformation. But how, pure is the church at the moment? What were the actual practices of the church of the 1st century (fresh off the Resurrection and Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ)? If we can recover and have a fresh look at the Acts of the Apostles, we should be able to assess our own Christian living; the practices which we are doing and the misconceptions and plainly wrong traditions which we may be entangled with.

Join us as we flipped through this journey, in the pages of God’s Written Word, and immerse ourselves with the scenery, events and more importantly, the lessons of our great forefathers of the faith.

As usual, our meetings are at 1.15pm in Room 1-8, every Friday afternoon, in TPM. Open to everyone. See you there!

The God Who Dies For The Ungodly! (Study on Romans 8)

05.06.08 | Permalink | Comment?
You heard that right! A God who dies for sinners, the very people who rejects Him and spits at Him in His face! Is it possible? Is it conceivable? We will deal with this topic on Friday, the 9th of May 2008. The essence of the death of Jesus Christ (The Son of God) is so loud that no other religion purports the same event. It was unthinkable then to believe such things could have happened… and it is still unthinkable now!

We will also deal with the effect of such an event on those who believe in this Good News. Are those who believe in this message expected to see ‘results’ in their own lives? What should they be expecting and have they seen it? These are personal questions which answers have much to comfort the soul and sooth our doubts.

Join us, this Friday, as is every Friday (except public holidays) at 1.15pm in Room 1-8 for an encounter with God through His Words! Open to anyone and everyone :)

The God Who Delivers Sinners From The Body of Death (Study on Romans 7)

04.22.08 | Permalink | Comment?
It is interesting to note that God views the sinner (all human beings) as being dead bodily. We’re basically potrayed as walking carcasses. Dead bodies that are merely having semblances (looking like) of the living.

Dead. Not wounded beings, but dead.

The question which needs to be addressed is: How dead is dead? And what does it mean to be dead in this body that we are living in?

We will also explore the role of the law (the law of right and wrong which is divinely given - thus we see it in place in all civilisations of the world) in determining and bringing death to the human race.

This study will bring us closer to the apex of God’s revelation to all man, concerning the way to salvation. Bring your friends and yourselves to hear what the Living God of the Bible has to say about the matters pertaining to your live, which is God-given. See you this Friday, the 25th April 2008 at Room 1-8, 1.15pm.
